New Superior Vena Cava Insight
For those of you who have responded to my blog, I am amazed to have had you find me. I wish I could find you. Your stories have moved me and I want to offer you encouragement. If you don't die from this disease in the first couple of months and if it is a permanent condition caused by an indwelling catheter or pacemaker, then you will probably make it. My doctors expected me to die, but our bodies are amazingly fast at creating new plumbing for a blocked vein which the Superior Vena Cava is. It is a very large vein, but nonetheless, a vein. Our problem is basically a plumbing problem. There is hope. I'm on my 18th year living with this. I have shortness of breath, pretty constant mild chest pain, and upper body edema, but with exercise, I have increased the ability of my body to grow more veins and it helps me to feel a little better. Simple slow walking is my current exercise, but I'm eager to get back to floor exercises to tone my body more. We can fight this condition, but it requires patience and the will to live.
May your will to live be strong.
